Cultural and philosophical foundations for studying the problems of intercultural communication in the context of own - alien relations

The relevance of the problem presented in the paper is based on the understanding that in the global world the contradictions between the value systems of cultures are increasing and intercultural interaction is intensifying. Intercultural communication materializes in the forms of integration and differentiation, conflicts and cooperation, universalization and the desire for isolation. The author analyzes the concept of “intercultural communication” and notes that it has not received an unambiguous definition in scientific discourse. Intercultural communication is studied from different perspectives, but in most studies the analysis takes place within the antithesis of Own - Alien. The paper notes the role of the Alien as an important protective mechanism in a collision with Another/Different culture. The review of individual conceptual justifications of intercultural communication is presented, the role of the border in the interaction of cultures is shown, and the specifics of dialogue as a cultural and philosophical phenomenon and its potential are determined.
