The article is devoted to the word "tiger", which has a rich cultural connotation in the Chinese linguistic and cultural space. The object of the study is phraseological units with the word "tiger", which have a variety of connotative meanings in the Chinese language and culture. The image of the tiger has both positive and negative coloring, which symbolizes power, intelligence, bravery, bravery, as well as misfortune, misfortune, greed, ferocity in Chinese linguistic cultures. They characterize people of different ages, status, and functions performed in society. As a result, it is concluded that a deeper understanding of the connotation of the word "tiger" can improve intercultural communication.
