The article analyzes the role of national values in the formation of foreign policy and the influence of cultural diversity on the theoretical understanding of international relations. Despite the fact that international relations remain global, each state is adapting to global changes in its own way, and more and more countries are no longer oriented towards the West. Russia today focuses on its national interests as a way of recovery and development in response to pressure from the West. The theoretical understanding of international relations is becoming more and more politically and culturally pluralistic. The article reveals various schools of the theory of international relations, including Russian ones, which indicates the recognition of the importance of national values as basis for development of a modern state and its foreign policy.
