Cultural approach as a methodological basis of higher school pedagogy

The culturological approach in higher education pedagogy is a set of principles and measures aimed at students’ mastery of general culture. It forms the foundation of humanistic pedagogy, which recognizes the individual’s right to self-actualization and self-expression. At its core, there is a principle of culture- conformity, formulated as early as the 19th century, which requires considering the cultural context and traditions in the learning process. The ideas of cultureconformity and the connection between education and culture are not new and can be traced throughout progressive pedagogical teachings of the past. In the modern educational paradigm, the cultural approach is complemented by the principle of culture- creation, which implies independent cultural development of the individual, the choice of values, and creative self-realization. A person is viewed as a subject of culture, capable of creating new meanings. Thus, education moves beyond the mere transmission of knowledge and becomes a space for dialogue and the generation of cultural values. Higher education plays an important role in the formation of a humanitarian, cultural and creative environment, as well as contributes to the professional and cultural development of the individual. The cultural approach requires enhancing the culture- intensity of education, introducing students to humanitarian culture, developing humanitarian thinking, and revealing the cultural meanings of professional activity. The practical implementation of this approach involves the integration of cultural studies disciplines into curricula, the use of dialogic and project- based teaching methods aimed at personal growth, and the formation of future professionals’ ability to transform the world around them with responsibility and creativity.
