The aim of this article is to analyze the use of Spanglish in The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao (2007) by Junot Díaz as a central linguistic tool in the identity negotiation and cultural resistance of Dominican characters in the diaspora. Using a methodology that combines linguistic analysis and postcolonial critique, this article explores how hybrid language becomes a vehicle for identity reappropriation in a migratory context marked by race, class, and colonial heritage. By analyzing the linguistic dynamics and identity conflicts of the main characters, the article demonstrates that Spanglish becomes a means of subversion against racial stereotypes and social marginalization. Finally, it examines how the novel deconstructs the concept of "home" and redefines belonging within the framework of diaspora.
