The article discusses the problem related to the search for funds aimed at the development of regulatory universal learning activities (UMS) in biology lessons. At the same time, the components that ensure the work of regulatory management systems are being studied - goal setting, planning, forecasting, control, correction, self-assessment and self-regulation. We have chosen laboratory work as a means to activate the work of regulatory management systems. As part of the pedagogical experiment, the initially existing levels of the components of regulatory DMS were determined when studying a school biology course for the 8th grade. Laboratory work has shown that they contribute not only to the formation of regulatory DMS, but also to the identification of their level of formation, which allows for the correction of the educational process in biology.
