Statement of the problem. The article focuses on linguistic lacunarity, namely intralinguistic lacunarity, which manifests itself at the level of the word-formation system of the Russian language. One of the ways to discover derivational lacunae is to study complex units of the word-formation system. The derivational nest, one of the main complex units of word formation, from the position of lacunarity, turned out to be beyond the attention of linguists. The purpose of this study is to consider the intralinguistic lacunarity in the lexico-derivational nest from a cognitive position and to build a typology of lacunae in the nests of the Russian language. The leading method of research is the method of comparative analysis of practical material in combination with separate methods of its structural and semantic interpretation. In addition, distributive analysis is used focusing on identifying signs of regularity in the structure of complex word-formation units. Analytical study of dictionary entries and special scientific literature was also applied. Research results. The derivatives of the nest with the “leg” apex are analyzed to demonstrate the phenomenon of lacunarity at the level of the lexico-derivative nest. To identify the specifics of the structure of this nest and establish the types of lacunae, literary and dialect derivatives are involved of various lexical and derivational nests with the apices denoting the names of somatic objects. Conclusion. During the analysis of the lexico-derivational nest, the following types of lacunae were identified: (1) intra-nested lacunae, which have an equivalent in the literary subsystem of the language; (2) lacunae that have an equivalent in the dialect and/or other (vernacular, jargon) subsystems of the language; (3) lacunae that can be filled with potential words at the intralinguistic level. Of the identified three types of lacunae, (2) and (3) are considered as intralinguistic types, (1) is found only in the lexico-derivational nest.
