Lexical and syntectic characteristics of the English bussines e-mail

This paper presents typological features of the language means of the English business letter of electronic format in the aspect of its lexical composition and syntax study. Basic methods of the research: the linguistic analysis of the text, determining of statistic parameters of word-forming models and syntactic constructions. In the process of the research the following differential attributes of the lexical composition of the English business e-mail were defined: 1) use of neutral words and terms, 2) conjunctions, 3) introductory words and word-combinations, 4) abbreviations and acronyms; and the syntactic features are: 1) the minimizing use of complex sentences, 2) the use of standard phrases subject to the purpose of communication. The author draws the conclusion about the regimentation, genre separateness and independent functioning of the English business e-mail in the commercial documentation. The perspectives of further development of electronic technology in the sphere of English business communication are analyzed.
