This article describes the means of creating a negative image in the publications of English-speaking media about Russia and its leader Vladimir Putin. By analysis of the texts of qualitative British and American press, we tried to retrace an estimated list of lexical means, used by addressers of messages for providing manipulative influence on the minds of the public readership. The analysis of the collected material, mostly of general political orientation, showed that the creation of the negative image is achieved by tendentious characteristics of V.V. Putin and his circle, particularly, and Russia totally, through the prism of the political factor.
