Lexical choice in the process of oral speech production (classroom bilingualism case)

Бесплатный доступ

The results of experimental research are discussed and explained in terms of activation, competition and lexical choice theory. In the process of lexical access not only a semantic representation corresponding to a target concept is activated but also connected to it other semantic representations, as well as words related to a target by some formal features. All activated lexical nodes compete to be chosen in speech production. The mechanism of lexical choice chooses a lexical node with the highest level of activation. Lexical decisions are made under the influence of impressions, images, associations connected to the word in the mind of an individual.
