Lexico-semantic paradigmatics of regional vocabulary units representing the language situation in Scotland

The article dwells on the interaction conditions of two genetically related language formations in modern Scotland - Scottish English and Scots. Specific traits of semantic paradigmatic intersection in regionally marked lexical units are analysed. This intersection has shown that Scottish English and Scots are autonomous though unequal entities as the former has the status of the principal language in Scotland.
