Lexical and semantic contacts as the factor of the historical development of the lexical units (based on the middle English language)

The article deals with the lexical and semantic contacts as the factor of the historical development of the lexical units at the example of the Middle English adjective ‘clene', that was one of the most important means of the ethical and moral evaluation in the XII-XVth centuries. The source of the study material is the Corpus of Middle English Prose and Verse, including the written monuments of the XII-XVth of both the religious and secular nature.
