The personality of K. N. Leontiev in the light of the ideas of personalism

The article examines the personality of the Russian thinker and publicist Konstantin Nikolaevich Leontiev in connection with the ideas of personalism. This direction of philosophy was represented in the West by the figures of E. Mounier, P. Riker, V. Stern, B. Coates and others, in Russia - S. N. Bulgakov, L. Shestov, L. P. Karsavin, N. A. Berdyaev. The version of Christian personalism was developed by theologians M. M. Tareev, V. I. Nesmelov. In the light of their later theoretical concepts, the intellectual and emotional properties of Leontiev’s personality clearly appear. The dramatic struggle between the sensual elements of his nature and the desire to subordinate himself to ascetic discipline is shown.
