This paper raises the issue of the relationship between personal and situational determination of the volitional personal behavior. The empirical study sample included 129 Krasnodar university students aged 18-35 (80 females and 49 males). The authors measured different-level personal characteristics, volitional personality traits, and individual components of assessing the situational activity of the personality. They applied such techniques as Formal and Dynamic Individuality Properties Questionnaire by V.M. Rusalov, Individual Typological Questionnaire by L.N. Sobchik, Life-Purpose Test by D.A. Leontiev, Volitional Qualities of Personality Questionnaire by M.V. Chumakov, Assessment of Situational Activity of Adult Personality by E.A. Belan. The results of the study on the determination of volitional personal behavior show that personal and situational characteristics systemically determine all levels of volitional behavior regulation. Various qualitative characteristics of this determination are identified as well. Volitional regulation is a priority for social behavior. Therefore, it is necessary to study both personal and situational determinants. Understanding the mechanisms of situational determination in relation to volitional regulation of social behavior will optimize social and psychological support of the personality in the social life.
