The paper reviews servicemen’s personality traits that are essential to effective process of adaptation to military service. A range of personality characteristics has been revealed that are distinct for relative stability and define successfulness of adaptation to various conditions of military service. The study explores the concept of personality adaptation potential and defines its impact on efficiency with which servicemen fulfil their professional duties. The paper recognizes the features that are typical of servicemen with neuropsychic instability and low self-esteem.
