This study is devoted to the analysis of linguistic features of English and German communication of representatives of generation Y (millenials) and generation Z (centenials) on Instagram. The study of Instagram posts of the representatives of two latest generations makes it possible to identify the main language development trends of modern English and German, which belong to the same language group. As part of the work, a comparative analysis is also carried out, during which the similarities and differences in virtual communication in two languages are identified. In general, the authors come to the conclusion that representatives of generation Y and generation Z use a modern spoken language, that is, mainly an oral form of speech in a written form, that makes the language emotionally expressive and dynamic. The results presented in the article can be reflected in the courses of Internet linguistics, lexicology, stylistics, theory and practice of communication.
