Linguo-discursive aspects of a legal text as the focus of pretranslation text analysis

The article attempts to discuss key aspects of pretranslation text analysis of legal texts focusing on specific features of legal terminology, functional stylistics and linguo-discursive characteristics. The author introduces the concept of pretranslation discourse analysis and suggests using textual grid to analyze legal discourses for that matter. The article also highlights critical discursive differences of common law and civil law legal systems generating major challenges for translators.
