The author dedicated the essay to memories of his personal communication and joint activities with Professor Viktor Kirillovich Chumachenko (1956-2017), a scholar who devoted his life to studying the history of Kuban literature. The author describes his collaboration with Chumachenko (the relationship between them was businesslike, constructive and trusting) in the search for the lost literary heritage of Kuban writers and poets; tells about several rarities he found and presented to Chumachenko. The author gives facts concerning the epistolary heritage of the writer Vasiliy Mova (Limansky), which was taken abroad during the Civil War. The author describes events associated with the celebration of Mova’s 170th anniversary held in 2012 in the Leningradskaya village of Krasnodar Krai with Professor Chumachenko’s direct participation. The author tells about his research of local history work, carried out at Chumachenko’s request and aimed at searching for Mova’s descendants. The research was successful: mentions of the writer’s sons were found in the regional press of the second decade of the 20th century. The author stresses that the literary studies Professor Chumachenko conducted need to be further continued with the broad support of the local history community.
