The author focuses on the local word in the aspect of the lexicographic description. Today, the interests of many linguists, including researchers at the Perm School of Sociolinguistics, are addressed not only to the description of a particular language subsystem, but also to the study of the functioning of the language in the speech activity of people using this language. Observations of the speech of educated people living in cities with a dialectic environment reveal a rather noticeable effect of dialects on the literary language of the city. Local phenomena are the result of a dialogue between two language systems - literary and dialect. The study of the local variability of the literary language is associated with the study of local lexical units - localisms. The localism file cabinet comprises over 20,000 buildings. Currently, 1,048 local lexical units have been identified and described. Consideration of the linguistic nature of localism within the interaction of the speech of the city and the village is very promising for other cities in a dialectic environment.
