Mayakovsky studies: key milestones, trends, names

The article is devoted to the study of the literary reception of the poetic heritage of an outstanding poet of the 20th century V. V. Mayakovsky. Based on the chronological approach formulated by M. V. Pokotylo, we have determined the characteristic features of early Mayakovsky studies on the material from the works by V. Ya. Bryusov, Yu. N. Tynyanov, R. O. Yakobson. The article reveals the main achievements of the classical period in Mayakovsky studies on the example of the works by A. I. Metchenko, V. O. Pertsov, new features in understanding the specifics of Mayakovsky's poetry in the works of the "perestroika" period by M. L. Gasparov, A. A. Mikhailov, Yu. A. Karabchievsky. The article especially emphasizes the role of works by A. M. Ushakov, who determined the basic trends in research strategies at the beginning of the 21st century. The analysis carried out confirms the legitimacy of the scientist’s judgments about Mayakovsky as a poet-reformer, and also emphasizes the actualization of such areas as culturological, intertextual, mythopoetic, religious and mythological, poetological, textual, historical functional approaches in modern Mayakovsky studies.
