Maktabs in modern Dagestan society: role in strengthening religiosity

The increase in the religiosity of the Dagestani population is due to the intensification of the activities of religious organizations, their desire to involve a large stratum of people in the bosom of Islam. Based on a secondary analysis of the sociological material, it is established that in modern Dagestan society there is an increase in the scale of the spread of Muslim education at various levels (from Tibetan to higher Islamic). This circumstance contributes to the growth of religiosity, changes in the appearance of a follower of Islam (wearing a hijab by a woman and wide-cut clothes by men). A comparative analysis of the material and the measurement of the types of religiosity shows that the attitude to religion declared by the respondents (a convinced believer, a believer, a wavering, an unbeliever and a convinced unbeliever) is not consistent with their cult behavior: the most significant Islamic prescriptions for the surveyed Dagestan population are prayer and fasting. The results of the study suggest that Islamic education has a direct impact on the involvement of people in the bosom of Islam and increasing their religiosity.
