Popular culture as a problem of modern society: general theoretical analysis

Popular culture is one of the most remarkable and characteristic phenomena of the modern world. It has appeared because of the democratization of social relations, the development of mass society, industry and market mechanisms, relevant production and consumption of information and globalization. Mass culture represents one of the most important factors in individual's socialization and their adaptation to the conditions of modern life, the realization of social equality and social solidarity, ensuring effective social communication. The article notes that the industrial, market-based approach and the function of mass culture contributes to its economic competitiveness and efficiency of the organization. However, a number of rather complex problems, such as possible decreasing the quality of products have created and offered on the one hand. On the other hand, it deals with a socially important necessity of education for the person, based on the national and universal ideals, instilling its civic skills and critical attitude to the content spiritual life. It is required to a careful study of modern mass culture, its social usage of structural features, adjusting the development trends, respectively the system of universally valid values, harmonious inclusion in the national culture.
