Large-scale online events as a tool to overcome the social isolation of the population

Modern global challenges and threats reinforce the importance of high-quality information flows in a virtual environment, and social activity is shifting towards the Internet space. Under the forced transition of the population to self-isolation amidst the coronavirus pandemic, the demand for traditional events is decreasing and the role of large-scale online events as a tool to overcome isolation from society and reduce its negative impact on humans is increasing. The article identifies the general and special features of mass traditional and online events, considers the specifics of the algorithm for their organization and conduct, and explores the characteristics of the information flows of two forms of events. Based on the results of a sociological survey of 147 people, conclusions are drawn regarding the nature of the impact of online events on the quality of life during the isolation regime. It was revealed that 81.6 % of respondents rated the positive impact of a large-scale online event, saying that this format makes life more comfortable. Moreover, it was determined that some of those who did not attend large-scale online events in the traditional format began to attend them online.
