Mathematical model for calculating the optimal quantity of assortment units of a product category

Globalization of trade demands that domestic researchers monitor the world tendencies in this area and determine perspective directions of its development. Relevance of the developed project on automation of optimization processes of assortment and stocks on the basis of marketing technology of "Category management" is proved. The developed technique allows assessing the effectiveness of assortment management. The authors developed an integral system of product category management on the basis of a methodological research of an assortment management system. Systems for managing assortment and stocks at retail trade enterprises for developing organizational structures, business processes, algorithms for decision-making in category management were studied. The authors defined a group of factors influencing the system for assortment management as variable models for category management optimization, found ways to increase the efficiency of retail enterprises’ activity. The use of system analysis methodology in data processing, the statistical research tool, promoted high-quality justification of assortment management factors and development of mathematical model of decision-making in category management.
