The paper reveals the «adaptation» concept. The author describes adaptation levels and periods. The article also provides the organizing forms of help to students in the process of adaptation. It also gives the data of statistical treatment of the pedagogical experiment on initial level of mathematical willingness of students and its correlation with the quality of teaching in a higher education institute.
