Lawyers’ mathematical education as the basis for fundamentalization of professional training

The process of fundamentalization of legal professional education is provided with introduction of compulsory mathematical training into higher educational curricula. Mathematical methods are considered as a means of studying professional subjects and acquiring general cultural and professional competencies according to educational standards of the Russian Federation. The author establishes aims and tasks of mathematical education for lawyers, content and methods of teaching mathematics, describes experience of using the author’s methods of teaching mathematics to first-year students majoring in Law enforcement (40.05.02) at the Law Institute of the South Ural State University. The suggested method is based on using the elements of technology of cooperation, problem learning technology and adaptive learning technology. In combination of elements of point assessment the given method facilitates the formation of students’ own opinion, increases self-assessment, develops independent thinking, forms the competency to formulate and advocate own opinion, creates conditions for communicative skills. The results of using this method reveal that high level of motivation during the term enables the students to successfully master mathematics to the extent necessary to form general cultural competencies and pass interim assessment of academic progress. Further research of the problem of intensive mathematical training of law students aims at promotion of the method under study.
