The article examines the material and technical support of pedagogical colleges in the Uzbek SSR during the post-war period of 1946–1952. Drawing on archival documents, particularly inspection reports of the Ministry of Education of the Uzbek SSR, the study analyzes the conditions under which pedagogical institutions functioned during the years of national economic reconstruction. The author identifies several key issues, including the acute shortage of classrooms, furniture, and essential equipment, as well as insufficient dormitory space, limited teaching materials, and a lack of qualified personnel. The article highlights that even the leading pedagogical colleges of the republic, including those in Tashkent and Samarkand, faced difficulties in equipping classrooms, laboratories, and dining facilities. Special attention is given to women’s pedagogical colleges, where the declared number of female students did not correspond to the actual enrollment due to social and cultural characteristics of the region. Archival sources allow not only for an assessment of the material conditions of the colleges but also provide insight into the moral and ethical climate among teachers, issues of discipline, academic performance, and students’ living conditions. The study demonstrates that despite government efforts to improve the state of educational institutions, the material and technical base remained the weakest link in the republic’s education system up until the Khrushchev reforms. At the same time, inspection reports indicate gradual improvements in the educational process, strengthening of discipline, and a rise in the professional level of teaching staff, which laid the groundwork for the further development of pedagogical education in Uzbekistan.
