Материя сна. Византийские комментаторы XII - XV вв. о материальной причине сна в трактате Аристотеля о сне и бодрствовании

В статье дается общая характеристика сохранившиеся византийских комментариев XII - XV вв. к малым естественно-научным сочинениям Аристотеля, входящим в сборник Parva naturalia. Описываются рукописи и издания комментариев, составленных Михаилом Эфесским, Георгием Пахимером, Феодором Метохитом, Софонием и Геннадием Схоларием, выясняется их отношение друг к другу, обсуждаются причины пробуждения интереса к биологической и физиологической сторонам философии Аристотеля в Византии XII-XV вв., а также причины невнимания к Parva naturalia позднеантичной экзегетической традиции. Особенности византийской экзегезы рассматриваются на примере комментариев к трактату О сне и бодрствовании, в котором Аристотель, пообещав установить формальную, целевую, материальную и действующую причины сна, вместо четырех причин исследует только три - формальную целевую и действующую, оставляя материальную без внимания. В статье показано, как византийские комментаторы решали указанную проблему, в каком месте трактата О сне и бодрствовании они видели рассуждение о материальной причине сна, и почему отождествляли последнюю с гипотетической необходимостью и образующимся от пищи горячим испарением. В заключении показано, почему предлагаемое византийцами толкование материи сна является ошибочным, и каким образом оно вытекает из чрезмерно бережного отношения к наследию Аристотеля.
