Бесплатный доступ

The article presents an overview of modern scientific data on the physiological role and hygienic significance of the essential trace element copper. Special emphasis is placed on the discussion and analysis of information about the relationship of the level of this bioelement in the body of athletes with physical activity, indicators of metabolic status and physical performance of athletes. Adequate intake of copper with food is necessary for the normal metabolism of iron, the formation of hemoglobin, the processes of biological oxidation and regeneration of adenosine triphosphate, the synthesis of collagen and elastin, the functioning of the body's antioxidant defense system. Copper deficiency in the body of athletes can be the cause of anemia, decreased performance and deterioration of sports results. This makes it necessary to control the provision of the athletes' body with copper and other bioelements in order to timely identify and correct possible violations of the elemental status.
