The article deals with the information space of Vereshchagino, a small town in Permsky Krai, with its two information and communication groups («Overheard Vereshchagino» and «Life in Vereshagino!»), and two regional newspapers («Zarya» and «Vereshchaginsky Vestnik»). The social network «VKontakte» is analysed as the main platform, where these two types of media compete; an attempt is made to comprehend them within the framework of the concept of «new urban media». Conclusions are drawn about the complementarity of two different types of groups in the urban information space Vereshchagino.
