Mediatization: the effects of media reality

Mediatization is one of the key concepts of the socio-humanistic discourse of the digital age and at the same time one of the most debated. The problems of mediatization in the modern socio-philosophical and sociological discourse are analyzed, various methodological approaches are considered. The author suggests understanding the effects of mediatization based on the analysis of a symbolic socio-cultural phenomenon – media reality. The dialectical character of the historical development of mediatization is revealed, which is manifested in the media reality created by traditional electronic mass media; the complex effects of mediatization in the processes of media reality impact on socio-political processes and the human life are analyzed. The mediatization is explained as a developing cultural and historical phenomenon, the effects of which are manifested at different stages of the development of civilization. The methods of analysis of technogenic symbolic environments, as well as the phenomenological analysis of the world of “mediatized” everyday life are used as research tools.
