Mechanisms of code switching in conversational bilingual speech (based on the novel by Gr.D. Roberts “Shantaram”)

The article is devoted to the study of code switching mechanisms in the context of language contacts in a literary space. The main provisions of the theory of code switching are considered, the cognitive aspects of using various codes within one communicative act of bilinguals are revealed, and the mechanisms of code switching in bilinguals’ speech are analyzed (based on the novel by Gr. D. Roberts “Shantaram”).
