Measures of social protection and provision of social assistance to convicts serving sentences in institutions of the penitentiary system of the Russian Federation

The article discusses the issues of ensuring social protection and providing social assistance to convicts serving sentences in institutions of the penitentiary system, including in pre-trial detention centers. The analysis of some normative legal acts concerning issues of ensuring social security, as well as existing shortcomings in the activities of social protection groups of convicted correctional institutions, has been carried out. The study examines the features of ensuring social protection of convicts in pre-trial detention centers, and also suggests measures aimed at improving the efficiency of the functioning of the penal enforcement system for the re-socialization, labor and household arrangement of convicts after their release from prison.
