This article is relevant due to the fact that the method of project activity is a unique innovative technology that allows to comprehensively implement the tasks of teaching, upbringing and development of students. The formation of project activity skills among students is today one of the requirements of Federal State Standards. The article emphasizes the importance of the project method in teaching a foreign language and its focus on achieving both subject and metacognitive results. The use of this method in teaching a foreign language allows you to encourage the intellectual and emotional development of students, their thinking process, and develop creative abilities. The author draws on practical experience to illustrate the advantages of this method for the formation and development of students' skills in solving real problems, which is a key competence of the 21st century. The document also contains a description of problematic aspects in the organization of students' project activities. The author suggests various ways to resolve them.
