The article analyzes the category of «method», describes its components and justifies the idea that the development of the method involves mastering the system of knowledge and the system of actions. The article examines methodological features of teaching methods of mathematical analysis to pedagogical university students, the particular attention is paid to methods for calculating the area of figures using the integral. The actions that are part of each method are highlighted. The sequence of their execution is defined. The features of their application in different situations are indicated.
