The article is devoted to the problem of formation of coherent speech in children with general speech underdevelopment. The purpose of this study is to describe speech therapy work on the formation of different types of coherent utterance in older preschool children with general speech underdevelopment. In this regard, methods for the formation of coherent speech were analyzed and inconsistencies in their approaches were identified. The author describes the content of speech therapy work on the formation of a narrative text with different types of communication, a narrative text with elements of description and with elements of reasoning. The proposed speech therapy work on the development of various types of coherent speech promotes cognitive and speech development, as well as the initial skills of situation analysis, which is very important for successful schooling.
