The article presents a theoretical analysis of existing methods and approaches to assessing the innovation potential of economic entities at the regional level. This analysis revealed several limitations, including the neglect of synergistic effects between different components of the innovation potential, reliance on subjective expert assessments, and the narrow time frames of the analyzed data. The study aims to develop an original methodology for analyzing and assessing the innovative potential of regional industry, designed to overcome the identified limitations of existing approaches. The methodological framework is based on principles of cause-and-effect analysis, multivariate statistical techniques, and a systems approach to assessing the innovation potential. The central hypothesis posits that the proposed methodology would uncover complex nonlinear interdependencies among key components of the innovation potential. The study focuses on Moscow’s manufacturing sector as its object of analysis. The initial data matrix, constructed using traditional indicators of the innovation potential, was expanded to include an “ecosystem” block (reflecting interactions between domestic economic actors) and an “advanced technologies” block (characterizing the transition to a new technological paradigm). Practical testing of the methodology identifies four key factor groups, revealing nonlinear interactions among production, technological, scientific, and human resource components of innovation potential. The identified relationships between these factors provide a foundation for developing comprehensive strategies for the development of regional industry, shifting from fragmented solutions to an integrated approach. Subsequent research stages focus on a detailed examination of the structure of factor groups to identify the most critical indicators and parameters capable of sustaining long-term growth in the region’s industrial innovation potential.
