The article analyzes the directions of development of gamification in academic activities. It also considers the issues concerning students' engagement in learning and cognitive activities, defines the indicators of individualization and the conditions for the acquisition of innovative skills in learning. The method of determining the effectiveness of gamification in academic activities is presented.
