The non-profit sector today is an important agent of territorial economic development. In the light of this fact, non-profit organizations find it difficult to assess their strategic effectiveness due to its complexity and the lack of tools. The subject of the study is strategic effectiveness in operation of the non-profit sector. The purpose of the study is to develop a methodology for assessing the strategic effectiveness of socially oriented non-profit organizations. The hypotheses are put forward: the strategic effectiveness of socially oriented non-profit organizations is a complex aggregated indicator that includes performance indicators for various areas of the organization’s functioning; the strategic effectiveness of socially oriented non-profit organizations is a significant factor in successful regional socio-economic development. Comparative analysis, synthesis and decomposition are used to analyze the existing approaches to determining the strategic effectiveness of the non-profit sector, which establishes the basis for the author’s assessment methodology. The methodology focuses on four dimensions of the strategic effectiveness of socially oriented non-profit organizations, including the economic, social, marketing and personnel dimension. The methodology can be used in the activities of socially oriented non-profit organizations to improve the quality of their strategic analysis and management. The author’s model can serve as a foundation for the development of an assessment tool for narrowly specialized non-profit organizations.
