At present martial arts and hand-to-hand fighting employ different measures to control certain aspects of preparedness and special endurance. Choosing these methods is rarely scientifically proved, therefore the data about sportsmen condition lacks information value. Three tests have been developed to assess components of speed, strength and complex endurance. The study of martial art fighters’ competitive activity enables the authors to specify the most important and informative characteristics and calculating indices used to estimate competitive activity. Due to these methods it is possible to evaluate the level of special endurance during the staging and running control, make prompt corrections in the training process, anticipate the results of the nearest future competitions. The effectiveness of the methods is proved by the high results of sportsmen’s competitive activity.
