Method for determining seismic loads acting on the seismic isolated building

Seismic isolation is a modern security technology, which affords reduction of seismic action on structures during an earthquake. It has proved its efficiency and economic competitiveness in comparison with the conventional methods providing seismic stability of various structures. The absence of specific recommendations for the calculation and construction of buildings with seismic isolation systems is one of the major obstacles to the implementation of seismic isolation systems in the construction. This paper proposes a method of determining seismic loads acting on the building, located on the seismic isolation system. The technique can significantly reduce the amount of analyzed information and at the same time use the basic recommendations for evaluation of seismic resistance structures. The technique is based on a comparative analysis of the response spectrum of acceleration resulting from the direct dynamic analysis of seismic isolated buildings with the regulatory spectrum for building.
