The method of selection of highly productive soybean genotypes in breeding nursery is developed basing on an analysis the data on yield, harvesting index and biomass of the different cultivars in plots of the different designs. It is offered to analyze a connection between seed yield in a competitive trial of soybean cultivars and duration of the vegetative period at allocation of the valuable for breeding genotypes. And depending on the direction of the allocated connection it is required to use different selection criteria. In years when connection between soybean seed yield and duration of vegetative period is positive, genotype selection on small one-row plots is effective by a direct trait seed weight and in years with negative correlation - by harvesting index.
