The article deals with usage of cognitive apprenticeship model in the process of formation of students of architecture readiness for creative professional activity. According to present day research in that sphere there is direct influence of effective training on success in profession and recognition of its importance. It is especially topical for institutions training specialists of creative professions. The concept of «readiness of students-architects for professional and creative activities in the process of independent work» has been clarified. The main methodological approaches to the problem of the effective formation of students-architects for professional and creative activities in the process of independent work are analyzed.
