The article deals with the practical application of various principles of the art research of the monumental painting, one of the most important kinds of dimensional art. It also covers the regional aspect of the monumental art development at its apogee in the late soviet period. The author analyzes the reasons of the monumentalism crisis during the perestroika and post-perestroika periods and the personal crisis overcoming by the artist was taken as an example.
