Metodological Problems of the Value Foundations of Historical Memory

The authors interpret the defi nition of historical memory as “an actualized action of human existence and a way of prolonging life”. They propose to study the phenomenon of historical memory through the prism of its value dimensions, and argue that the value system is not only connected with the historical and cultural environment of society, but also sets a meaningforming context for historical memory. The authors highlight that the process of remembering a specifi c historical event is linked to existing value-normative systems accepted in society, which can lead to the erosion of the authenticity of the historical fact. They emphasize that the contemporary transformation of society changes the value base of historical memory, which becomes a resource of network and digital history.
