Empirical research on social justice has been relevant in the global community for many years, as evidenced by their ever-growing number. Their goal is always the same – to identify the attitude of the population towards social justice and possible ways to solve existing problems. The aime of this article is to analyze empirical research, the essence and level of social justice in Russia and foreign countries, and to compare the results of the identified examples. The official open sources of statistical information, publications in the media, materials of sci-entific papers and collections have been studied and analyzed. It was found that the most popular methods in Russia are the methods of quantitative measurement of social justice. At the moment, there is no consensus among the population. Nevertheless, the majority of Russians maintain a negative point of view regarding such factors as living standards, equality, and access to social services. This conclusion demonstrates the importance of continuing the practice of creating and conducting empirical research in order to further diagnose and analyze, and use the findings to transform state policy and public consciousness.
