The article deals with the actualization of the issue of the methodology of studying the interrelation of the general and additional education in the context of helping the self-determination of the personality. There is discovered the comprehension of the concepts “educational practice” and “practice of cooperation”. The authors characterize the research position of the authors, concerning the study of the practice of the interrelation of the institutions of the general and additional education. There is given the substantiation of the choice of the methodological basis of the study.
