This work presents the methods of nineteenth-century English education based on the novel Charlotte Bronte "Jane Eyre". Fragments of the work are given as examples and the actions of adults in relation to children of that epoch are analyzed. The article considers punishments that were most often used. Shows important aspects in the education of the young generation of England. The main goal of education of girls in schools of the 19th century has been identified.
