Metonymic transformations of anthroponyms in the English publicistic texts of the modern mass media

The article deals with the role of the basic proper nouns (specifically anthroponyms) in the metonymic transformations based on the English publicistic texts of the modern mass media. There are analyzed the kinds of the metonymic connections between the original and derived meanings of the proper names. Each of the kinds of the connection depending on the basis of the similarity suggests the use of the different onyms.
