This article analyzes the reasons for forming a new style in the artistic culture of the second half of the twentieth century. In the situation when on the one side avant-garde art lost its communication skills and on the other side academic artistic creativity did not meet the actual demands of the time, the third way of art development formed - polystylistics. Polystylistics as common cultural and artistic style is a concentrated expression of the most important ideas and principles of the postmodern.
